Joe Biden can learn from Ed Markey’s victory.

Biden’s polling numbers have dropped across the board recently. With just under ten weeks left until election day, Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts has shown him a template to follow if he wants to change that.

I do not own the rights to this image.

I had no idea who Ed Markey was last year. I was watching the press conference for the unveiling of the Green New Deal because of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez(AOC). I barely remember anything he said that day. The next time I saw him, he was applauding Trump’s comments that America “would never be a socialist country.” After that, I committed his name to memory, but I couldn’t believe that this was the same guy that was sponsoring the Senate’s version of the Green New Deal.

Nevertheless, I still got behind him in his primary race. I donated to his campaign because I had the means to do so, and I’m not an idiot. I understand how imperative it is that America pass a Green New Deal. Ed Markey is not perfect, though he is rated as one of the most left-leaning Senators in the 116th Congress. Markey is victorious today, not because he’s a political rockstar or a policy wonk. He stands victorious because he unapologetically embraced the progressive left’s policy priorities.
